Dr. Sharma received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Zoology from University of Delhi in India and later went on to pursue a Doctorate degree in Molecular Biology at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi. She then moved to the United States to do postdoctoral research at the University of Illinois in Chicago. Shortly after, Dr. Sharma worked as a scientist at University of California, San Francisco for nine years. She has had several research articles published in peer reviewed journals.
Dr. Sharma enjoys teaching Biology and her goal is to make the subject as enjoyable for her students.
"The biggest reason why I chose to teach as BASIS Independent is the freedom to teach your students beyond the curriculum," she says. "We are able to add on topics to the basic curriculum, which we as teachers want to teach our students and help them take advantage of our advanced expertise in certain subject areas."
