As a Personal Trainer since 2000, who also coached competitive soccer in the Bay Area since 2010, Mr. St. Lawrence joined BASIS Independent Silicon Valley in its opening year as a Subject Expert Teacher of Physical Education.
Chief Instructor and Manager of Martial Arts Dojo, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from San Francisco State University, attained his National "D" license for Soccer, and achieved a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Shaolin Kempo, the first rank that has the authority to award rank promotions.
Drawn to BASIS Independent Silicon Valley because of the extraordinary teachers and high expectations of the students, Mr. St. Lawrence says, "The P.E. curriculum is about developing the overall character of our students. Through a variety of sports and fitness exercises, the students will develop a strong sense of sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect, while improving their health and fitness. The martial arts teaches confidence, humility, discipline, effort and goal setting. Combined with some nutritional knowledge, the curriculum has the ultimate goal of creating a better-rounded and healthy student, so they are best prepared to take on the challenges of life, with a positive attitude."
In Mr. St. Lawrence's free time, he loves going to the beach, camping, wake boarding and shooting pool. He also regularly sticks to a weight training and martial arts fitness routine. When he has the time, he also loves to travel and visit with friends.
