At BASIS Independent Silicon Valley, we are focused on preparing our students to become the next generation of innovators and problem solvers. We are passionate about encouraging students to think critically, to make connections, and to joyfully pursue their ambitions. Our core values as a learning community are represented through a series of deliberate, thoughtful actions that every student must work through in order to embody fully our school's legacy of academic excellence.
At BASIS Independent Silicon Valley, students must take the time to reflect—on their schoolwork, friendships, personal growth, and futures. In doing so, they learn to critically assess and analyze all information they receive and, as a result, develop a voracious appreciation for learning and a deep understanding of a wide variety of subjects.
Throughout their academic journey, evaluation comes into play as students go from class to class learning how advanced disciplines connect to each other and as they are contextualizing expertise. They understand that you cannot have a biology class without a history class or vice versa, as the subjects cannot and do not exist in isolation.
It is critical that students are constantly progressing and evolving through their academic journey. Progression, to us, is more than moving through the year's classes and getting good grades. It signifies a student is always trying their best to grow academically, personally, and mentally, rather than remaining stagnant in their thoughts and actions.
Innovation is driven by people who are comfortable changing and affecting change. If our students are to become innovators and problem solvers, they must ask questions, challenge concepts and ideals, face failure, and press onward toward success.
