How can AI be used—and be useful—in cooking? In our busy, bustling lives, we run into the problem of not having enough time to enjoy our food, as cooking meals can take a while. However, by using automations, we can reduce the time it takes to cook and serve food. Additionally, we can use AI to sort pre-processed ingredients or determine how thoroughly cooked a food item is, reducing the risk of serving raw food. In my Senior Project, I will intern at Chefeon, a Shanghai startup that specializes in making automated cooking machines. There, I will work on developing an image recognition model that can distinguish between raw cuts of lamb and beef.
