The One with the Conference

May 12, 2019

Everything has almost come to an end! My manuscript is complete and so is my research. This week I am going to the Arteriosclerosis Thrombosis and Vascular Biology (ATVB) Conference in Boston where I am doing a poster presentation for my research! I am so so excited to be presenting there and seeing ground-breaking research conducted by other labs as well!

I have prepared a lot for this conference. I changed my research poster by adding new data and polished it up. Over the course of my senior project, I read two textbooks

  1. Braunwald’s Heart Disease
  2. Valvular Heart Disease edited by Bonow and Otto

The books helped me thoroughly understand the molecular mechanisms behind valvular heart disease. By getting familiar with the surrounding anatomy of the heart, I was able to visualize all the mechanisms occurring.

I am truly grateful to have been part of this research project from start to finish. This experience has shaped my perspective of the ups and downs of biological research. In the future, I hope to continue participating in cardiovascular research and hopefully even expand on my own previous research!
