This week was spent modifying the AlexNet built for fine tuning and setting the text files to read the image directories. I had to write a small python script for this. There was still a major issue here however, because there was a hidden .DS file that messed with python’s reading of the folder. I do not know why it’s there, and I believe it to be something on MacOS’s end. A good note for someone who wants to do anything similar – If you’re having issues reading files in a directory, it may be due to this hidden file. Either move your images to a new folder or delete it through command line, restart your computer, and ensure it’s still not there.
By the end of the week, I managed to get my algorithm working and off the ground! I’ll discuss results next blog post, as well as plans for moving forward.
