Week 10 – Drafting

Apr 29, 2019

In week 10 I began writing my photobook. Having to synthesize around 8 weeks of work into just a few pages, and still making all the technical parts easy to understand for everyone proved to be a difficult task, as well as trying to match a photograph/outfit with every page of text. This initial drafting was crucial though, as it opened my eyes to a bunch of areas I can still do some last minute research on in the next week in order to connect the gaps between the numerous issues I cover.

To recap, my project aimed initially to point out the problems plaguing the fashion industry (such as overproduction, ethical sourcing, authenticity of garments, etc.), and describe how technological advancements in the Silicon Valley are solving these issues. Along the way, I also happened to touch upon the topics of Bay Area style, tech wear, 3D-knitting technology, and e-commerce solutions; I hope to link all of these topics smoothly in my book within the upcoming week.
