Ms. Flood earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics cum laude from Bob Jones University. Upon graduation, she took a job at Lockheed Martin in Sunnyvale, California. As a senior scientific programmer, Ms. Flood worked to turn mathematical concepts into software algorithms. She also worked on the design, coding, and maintenance of satellite ground station software, and was able to support several satellite launches and missions.
Several years later, Ms. Flood earned a Master’s degree in English Education from Golden State Baptist College. She taught mathematics, English, and linguistics at Golden State for thirteen years, rising to the position of English Department Chair.
As a teaching fellow at Basis Independent Silicon Valley, Ms. Flood has had the privilege of working in some middle school math classrooms. “I want to be that teacher who inspires and equips my students to reach their goals. I enjoy working at Basis Independent Silicon Valley because the students are prepared to learn and because the school promotes academic excellence,” Ms. Flood says.
In her free time, Ms. Flood loves spending time with her family. Her four adult children and their spouses live in the Bay Area, and they all get together several times a month. "These are the best of times," she exclaims. Mrs. Flood also enjoys reading, taking long walks, and staying active in her church, where she serves as a nursery supervisor and meal ministry coordinator.
