Mr. Diaz

Dean of Students, Grades 7 & 8

After earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Masters of Education in Teaching and Teacher Education from The University of Arizona, Mr. Diaz joined BASIS.ed. For three years at BASIS Oro Valley and two at BASIS DC, Mr. Diaz has taught 6th grade English. Currently, Mr. Diaz is the 7th and 8th grade Dean of Students at BASIS Independent Silicon Valley. His duties include being a liaison between parents, students, and teachers as well as being a resource of school community information. He also considers promoting the BASIS.ed philosophy as one of his more important functions.

As a teacher, he believes in discipline, rigor, and the joy of the intellectual process: he will bring the same beliefs to his position as Dean.

His interests outside of education revolve around poetry, philosophy, sketching, grammar, and hiking.
