Mr. Tucker received his Bachelor of Fine Arts, Art Studio degree from the University of California, Davis with a minor in African American Studies, and his Master of Fine Arts degree from Laguna College of Art & Design. His experience includes time with the Boys and Girls Club of America, directing after-school art programs for elementary schools that did not offer Arts in their curriculum, as well as leading student mural projects.
Mr. Tucker has found his home at BASIS Independent Silicon Valley where he teaches art for all levels. He says, "I appreciate that BASIS Independent values the importance of the Arts. I believe the Arts help to provide a well-rounded education in which children thrive with a creative outlet. I am thankful to BASIS Independent for recognizing it as a necessary part of a child's education."
In addition to teaching, he is also passionate about adopting animals and painting. Says Mr. Tucker, "I adopted both of my pets, a German Shepard mix as well as a bearded dragon, who is at school for all my students to see!" His current oil paintings focus on empty nocturnal landscapes, "Drawing reference from my childhood, I depict public sporting environments with the absence of figures, which leave much to the viewers' imagination," he smiles. Mr. Tucker has also played football throughout his life and was on the UC Davis Football team.
