Mr. Bennett is a 6th grade World History Subject Expert Teacher at BASIS Independent Silicon Valley. He is an attorney and a certified social sciences instructor in California. Mr. Bennett completed his undergraduate work at Reed College and majored in History. He obtained a Master of Arts degree in History from San Francisco State University and then completed his Juris Doctor at Vermont Law School.
Mr. Bennett is entering into his seventh year as an educator after teaching two years in California and four years in rural Thailand. As a Peace Corps Volunteer in Thailand Mr. Bennett worked with Thai English teachers to improve their English skills and create lessons and materials for future use. At the Peace Law Academy in Mae Sot, Thailand, he worked with young Burmese attorneys to hone their advocacy skills in the area of human rights and the rule of law. Mr. Bennett followed this by working at the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, DC to support and improve the rule of law overseas. He loves to share his experiences and looks forward to working with young minds to decode the human experience and cultivate great argumentative skills.
In his free time, Mr. Bennett loves biking, painting, and beach volleyball.
