Dr. Ghafooripour joined BASIS Independent Silicon Valley after leading the structural engineering courses at Heriot Watt University (Edinburgh/Dubai-UK), and I. Azad University where he held several academic and managerial positions, such as: Head of Department, Dean of Research, Dean of Academic Affairs, CEO, and Assistant Professor.
Dr. Ghafooripour's academic and professional projects have taken him to 22 different countries in Europe, Middle East, Asia and Japan and have earned him nearly 20 years of experience in teaching, researching, and engineering design in the United Kingdom, Netherland, Norway, Denmark, Iran, and United Arab Emirates.
Dr. Ghafooripour is a member of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Structural Engineering Institute (SEI), and American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). He is also an ORCID registered researcher and a registered Professional Engineer (PE).
Dr. Ghafooripour received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering, and PhD in System Identification and Vibrations. His hard-work and dedication has earned him several academic certifications for curriculum design, academic management and professional design works from UK, Netherland, Denmark, and Iran. He has been awarded for Excellent Academic Management and Researcher of the Year, has patented four inventions and published over 70 papers, and is an academic reviewer of World Journal of Engineering and Technology (WJET) in Delaware.
He has been awarded by BASIS Independent Silicon Valley for the highest performance in his classes for the academic year of 2014-15. "I love the environment that the faculty creates for their students; one that encourages learning, incites critical thinking, and supports all members of their academic community," he says.
Outside of the classroom, Dr. Ghafooripour enjoys spending time with family, traveling, dancing, scuba diving, desert dune driving, and listening to music.
